School of Divinity (SOD) Statement of Educational Effectiveness

Monday, January 11, 2016

The mission of the School of Divinity (SOD), Georgia Central University, is “to educate and train qualified students for ministerial, educational, and missionary leadership for Christ and His Kingdom through rigorous professional programs of theological studies and personal and spiritual disciplines” (Catalog, p. 5). To ensure that its academic programs fulfill the SOD’s mission and commitment, the SOD regularly checks and analyzes the educational effectiveness by means of a variety of assessments.

Academic Effectiveness

By the final class of each semester the SOD conducts the Course Evaluation & Outcome Assessment in order to know how effective we are in achieving the desired outcomes of the academic programs. The Course Evaluation & Outcome Assessment is basically divided into four large parts: (1) Academic
Self-Assessment; (2) Instructor Evaluation; (3) Course Evaluation; & (4) Facilities & Student Support Service Evaluation. The following graph shows levels of each area.

Satisfaction with Progress in Skills

The academic programs of the SOD are designed to educate its students to serve the church as well as the community. To collect the outcomes of this information each year graduates are asked to complete the ATS’s the Graduating Student Questionnaire (GSQ). For this report we have chosen to only focus on those items which rate their satisfaction level with progress in skills related to their future ministerial work.
